Project meeting 13.-18.05.2013.
Final project meeting took place in Estonia, Sõmeru Põhikool.
Project meeting began with the visit to the school museum, where guests saw exhibition of old school things and got aquainted with the long history of Sõmeru school. Welcome concert was prepared for guests by folckdance group and boys ensemble. All partner schools presented slideshows about their countries to students. After small break in media-classroom, what was project headquaters during whole week, all participants took part in handicraft workshop and made a toy – woodpecker from the wood branch. Then it was time for playing – country-teams went to classrooms and taught their indoor games in game lesson. How much fun they and children had! More serious was meeting with the mayor of Sõmeru Community in multifunctional community center, where are under the same roof community council, library, culture club and daycenter for retired people. In Sõmeru kindergarten children welcomed project team with singing and dancing and guests learned much about gindergarten organisation. We spent evening in Rakvere old castle, where excursion-adventure took us back to ancient times. We learned how to shoot bow, make black gunpowder, how to load canon, how to cross swords and in the end had medieval dinner.
In wednesday morning outdoor games festival began in front of schoolhouse. Every country met one group of students and then went to school stadium, where in four different places/in different countries outdoor games were played. After twenty minutes students group went to the next country to learn more games – so children „travelled“ through whole Europe. In the afternoon we took a trip to Lahemaa National Park, where we visited Sagadi manor and Forestry museum, Käsmu maritime museum and beach. On our way back from the seashore we arrived to Viitna old tavern, where typical estonian party meal was waiting and band played most popular national dance music. All partners also improvised some funny games and songs.
On Thursday there was big song and dance festival of five schools in Sõmeru. Comenius delegation marched with their flags in procession together with Estonian shoolchildren and enjoyed concert very much. After festivities we went back to school and thare was the last working session in our headquaters. We discussed how to evaluate our project in aspects of added value of the partnership towards a more intensive European cooperation and communication between the participating organisations involvement. Partners gave highly positive evaluations to our project.
In Estonian capital city Tallinn partners admired unique medieval city center and enjoyed nice warm springday.
6 students of Sõmeru school had guests also guests from Slovenia and Poland. They organized by themselves their own program. Guests tried everyday school life, taught games to estonian children, had lot of activities with their host families and spent much time together.
